Watch the faces, child,
watch that woman with the dog
because she's only there when you see her.
Before you grow older
and her baggy eyes
look to you like a beaten car
and a dim lit room still the way she left it,
Watch her pull the leash
and fix her hair,
then turn the corner
and she'll disappear.
