We built a house together
and squinted at it from the sidewalk.
I took a picture when the sun was behind the chimney
and I said, it's yours, and you held my wrist.
Let it see all the seasons
and sink into the dirt.
I'll come back when there's a thunderstorm
so we'll have something to talk about.
I guess you'll be different then.
